Abstract

613,848. Boring and facing machines. SCHAERER, O. Dec. 7, 1945, No. 33156. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1944. [Class 83 (iii)] A horizontal boring and facing machine comprises a main bed-portion 1 carrying a longitudinal and transversely slidable worktable 3, 4, a drilling or boring outboard bearing standard 9, also longitudinally and transversely adjustable relative to the bed, and a main standard 5, carrying the boring or drilling spindle carriage 7, slidable on an auxiliary bed 2 arranged at right angles to the main bed-portion. The auxiliary bed may be integral with or bolted to the main bed-portion and the main and outboard bearing standards may be located in the centre line position of the machine by dowel pins. When bulky workpieces are to be machined the dowels are removed and the standards adjusted transversely to avoid moving the work. The adjusting means for the standards may be interconnected so that the latter are moved simultaneously.
