702,440. Boring, facing and milling machines. SOC. NOUVELLE DE CONSTRUCTION DE MACHINES-OUTILS ET D'OUTILLAGE PROCEDES C.W.B. May 23, 1952 [May 30, 1951], No. 13126/52. Class 83 (3) A horizontal boring and milling machine with a vertically adjustable headstock is characterized in that the headstock is slidably supported on a swivelling plate on the front face of a column with the pivotal axis transverse to the column. The headstock 15 of the machine, carrying the boring or milling spindle 16 is moved in the direction of its longitudinal axis on a carriage 14. The latter is slidable vertically along guideways 13 which are provided on a plate 5 pivoted at 6 to the vertical column 3 of the machine. Arcuate guides at the top and bottom of the frame assist in supporting the plate which may be tilted by an electric motor 23 and worm and rack gearing 18, 19. After clamping the plate the machine may be used for machining an inclined face 25 as in Fig. 3. The headstock may slide directly on the guides 13 of the plate 5. The end face 20 of the headstock, adjacent the work, is preferably machined and slotted to receive tooling attachments.
