1319067 Beds and frames; drilling; milling; turning SOC INDUSTRIELLE D'OUTILLAGE MECANIQUE ET ELECTRIQUE 4 Aug 1970 [5 Aug 1969] 37469/70 Headings B3B, B3C, B3K and B3T A machine tool is constructed around a parallelepiped shaped pedestal 10 to the vertical faces of which can be attached in a variety of combinations, machining modules for operating on a workpiece mounted on a rotary work-table 11 which may be indexed during milling, reaming or drilling operations, or continuously rotated in a vertical lathe arrangement. Each module may comprise a slide 13 1 , 13 2 along which is moved a vertical column or post 14 which supports a vertically movable carriage 17 which in turn carries a horizontally movable tool holding or spindle carrier 21. In a vertical lathe arrangement (Figs. 17-20, not shown), the carrier 21 carries a tool box and can be fed either laterally or longitudinally relative to the axis of rotation of the table 11. In a milling arrangement a spindle head (81), (Figs. 13 14, not shown), is pivotable to present a tool (80) to horizontal or vertical surfaces of a workpiece. The machine tool may be numerically controlled and may be constructed on a drilling machine.
