Abstract
736,712. Lathe details. WALDRICH, O. March 10, 1953 [March 20, 1952]. No. 6623/53. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXIII] A bed for a lathe has front, intermediate and rear guide-ways, the rear guide-way 3 having its guiding surfaces 9, 10 upwardly inclined from front to back. The front and an intermediate guide-way (not shown), support a tool slide while a second intermediate guideway 4 and the guide-way 3 support a tailstock for the work 2, which may be a calender roll. The guide-ways 3, 4 may also support a steadyrest 11 clamped by a nut 14 and plate 12 to produce a wedge action which causes the rest to bear against the surfaces 9, 10, 19. The rest is moved along the bed by a pinion 18 and rack 17. The surfaces 9, 10 are perpendicular to a plane extending from their centre to the spindle axis of the machine. Only one intermediate guide-way may be provided. Specification 681,146 is referred to.
