A horizontal spindle milling machine comprises means 7 for selectively imparting a drive from the spindle 4 to the milling or slotting tool of a combined head 1. The milling head 2 and slotting head 3 may each be swivelled to an inoperative position. A turntable 6 enables the head 1 to be turned end-for-end.
