Abstract

1,150,464. Vertical lathes. STABILIMENTI DI SANT' EUSTACCHIO S.p.A. 25 April, 1967 [28 May, 1966], No. 18967/67. Headings B3Band B3T. A vertical lathe for machining crank webs and journals comprises a base 1 having a rotatable platform 2 thereon and support members 3 and 4 which carry a main cross-slide 6 on which are mounted vertical tool carriages 9, 10, and an auxiliary cross-slide 14 mounted on guides 11, 13 and 13<SP>1</SP> on the support members and on which are carried horizontal tool carriages 17, 18. The horizontal carriages are displaceable on the auxiliary slide transversely of the vertical axis of the lathe by feed screws 19, driven from the main slide via shafts 20. The auxiliary slide 14 is displaceably connected to the main slide 6 by screw members 21 which effect vertical movement of the auxiliary slide on the support members and in relation to the main slide, the main and auxiliary slides being independently operable to effect simultaneous machining operations.
