Abstract

720,818. Chucks. BUCK, R. E. March 16, 1953, No. 7212/53. Class 83 (3). A chuck having a cap member 13 and body 12 secured together by bolts 24 is attached to a spindleadaptor 11 by long bolts 33 passing loosely through holes 32 in the cap and body and is centred on the boss 50 of the adaptor by radial screws 37 acting on the boss through pads 38, the screws being intermediate the bolt heads and the rear end of the chuck, but closer to the rear end so that the bolts, which need not be loosened, can flex within the holes 32 to permit the centring adjustment. The boss 50 is a loose fit in a recess 25 and a flange 28 on the adaptor engages an annular surface 42 on the rear of the chuck body. The chuck jaws 15 are adjusted by a scroll-plate 19 and a keyoperated bevel pinion.
