751,613. Lathe - details. NEUKOMM, F. Jan. 19, 1954 [Feb. 6, 1953], No. 1564/54: Class 83 (3). A centre-rest for lathes &c. has a collet-like journalling-member 1 formed at its forward end with slits 10 which are inclined or helical over at least the portion 3 which contacts the work. An enlarged bore 2 is formed behind the jaws formed by the slits and the jaws may be lined with hard-metal 3. The jaws are adjusted by a coned-sleeve 5 and a nut 6, a peg 8 and groove 9 preventing relative rotation of the member 1 and sleeve 5.
