827,671. Knitting-machines. MONK (SUTTON IN ASHFIELD) Ltd., S. A., and MONK, B. A. April 28, 1958 [Jan. 30, 1957], No. 3220/57. Class 74 (2). The fashioning screws 1 and 2 of a straight-bar machine which respectively control the selvedge edge of the work and of a " V " neck, are provided with bluff plates 3, 4 to control the adjustment of the screw 1 for narrowing and widening respectively, and bluff plate 5 to control the adjustment of the screw 2 for narrowing. The bluff plates are connected by a series of levers to levers 18 (not shown), 19, and 20 (not shown), each of whose motions is controlled by a cam 28, which engage with truck 29, and stepped member 26, which engages withp in 35. Lever 23 supports lever 19 until fashioning is to take place. Depending on the position of member 26, which is controlled by the pattern drum or chain of the machine, lever 19 is held in an inoperative position or can move downwards to one of two positions, following the cam 28, which position it takes up determines whether no fashioning, or fashioning over one or two stitches, takes place.
