Abstract

826,792. Two-part couplings. ALLDAY & SON (1922) Ltd., H. May 22, 1958 [May 31, 1957], No. 17306/57. Class 38 (1). A socket connector consisting of a contactcarrying base a and a cover m, apertured for the passage of plug pins u, v, has an earth-pinoperated shutter r slidable between the base and cover and actuated by a spring-loaded bar g slidable in an inclined recess b and having a pair of horns h which embrace the shutter, and a hook-shaped end i which engages in the earth pin hole k in the cover. On insertion of the plug, the earth pin u disengages the hook i from the hole k and pushes the bar g down into the recess b against the spring p, thus moving the shutter away from the mouths of the live contacts c. On removal of the plug, spring p returns the shutter to its operative position shown.
