Abstract

793,000. Two-part couplings. WALSALL CONDUITS, Ltd. Nov. 13, 1956 [Nov. 16, 1955], No. 32734/55. Addition to 744,915. Class 38 (1). The shutter mechanism of the parent Specification is modified in that instead of providing a locking-plate for actuation by the earth pin, the lower end of the central limb of a T-shaped shutter 18, which limb is apertured to slide over the earth socket 26, engages a shoulder 29 on the connector body in the operative position of the shutter. A portion 27 of said central limb projects into the earth socket through a cut-away portion thereof so that on insertion of a plug, the earth pin engages the portion 27 and disengages the shutter from the shoulder 29 whereupon engagement of the upper end of the shutter by the live pins causes the plate 23 to rock and move the shutter against spring 25 to its inoperative position. The shutter is mounted between the halves of a two-part body on the front part 10 of which shoulder 29 is formed.
