Abstract

1,237,945. Two-part couplings. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 30 Oct., 1968 [2 Nov., 1967], No. 51488/68. Heading H2E. A multi-contact two-part coupling comprises (a) plug blades 1, Fig. 6, each secured in a passage 15 in an insulating housing 13 by a resilient tongue 4 latching behind a projection 17 in the passage, and a shoulder 18a abutting a nose 18 on the passage; and (b) bifurcated socket contacts 6, Figs. 8, 9, each secured in a passage 24 in an insulating housing 20 in a similar manner by a projecting shoulder 9 which abuts a shoulder 22 in the passage and a snapfit tongue 10, which is folded back from between the socket's gripping limbs and which latches behind a shoulder 23. Tongues 4, 10 have bevelled free ends for easy insertion into the housings. Both housings have holes H for mounting. The mouths of socket recesses 25 are flared. Posts 7 can receive wire wrapped connections.
