Abstract

937,602. Two-part couplings; direct connections between conductors. AMP Inc. July 16, 1962 [July 27, 1961], No. 27183/62. Class 38 (1). A socket 1 for mating with a circular pin or flat tab has a generally triangular cross-section with an arcuate wall-portion 10 divided longitudinally by a slot 8 for resilience. When a tab is inserted the two opposite corners of the tab are resiliently gripped by socket walls 12. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, the socket is divided into two parts by a transverse slot 3 and connected by a neck 4 to ferrules 5, 7 crimped around a lead 6, which may be bent at an angle to socket part 1 by means of slot 3 or neck 4. In another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown), the socket has spears or flanges which may be passed through a metal screening can for connection and mounting purposes.
