Abstract
825,942. Air or other fluid heaters. THERMAL EFFICIENCY Ltd. Feb. 27, 1957 [March 2, 1956], No. 6535/56. Class 64(3) In a furnace 10 having in one side wall an opening 11 through which work to be heated is passed to or from the furnace chamber and which serves also as an outlet for hot gases from the furnace chamber, a heat exchanger 14 heated by the said gases is mounted on the exterior of the furnace adjacent the opening, and such as to afford an unobstructed path for the work without relative displacement of the heat exchanger and furnace. The heat exchanger may comprise a member of tubular or (as shown) box construction through which air or other fluid to be heated is passed, and which is disposed within a hood or cowl 12 confining the hot gases and having a chimney or vent pipe 13 leading to the roof of the building in which the furnace is situated. The flow of hot gases through the heat exchanger may be assisted by a fan.
