Abstract
916,906. Cooling gas heater control members. MAIN Ltd., R. & A., and FRANCIS, S. E. Oct. 3, 1961 [Oct. 14, 1960], No. 35323/60. Class 126. [Also in Group XIII] Cooling air is drawn past the control knob 33 of a gas heater by flue draught action. A gas cock 22 is controlled by the knob 33 which is mounted in a flanged opening 12 at the top and near the side of the heater. Opening 12 is connected to an opening 17 in the back of the heater by means of a channel 24, and the top panel 11 of the heater projects beyond the rear panel 14 so that when placed against a fire surround 16 the opening 17 in the heater is in communication with the fireplace chimney. The chimney draught causes air to be drawn past knob 33 which may be perforated to increase its surface area. Channel 12 may be cast as shown and held in place by screws 28 or may be manufactured of sheet metal and welded in place, see Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). The gas heater illustrated is of the type in which room air circulates over a heat exchanger through which combustion products flow from a gas burner to an outlet 19.
