Abstract
825,881. Covers for pressure vessels. LEEDS & BRADFORD BOILER CO. Ltd., and PICKARD, H. M. H. Jan. 20, 1958 [Jan. 21, 1957], No. 2149/57. Class 123(1) A closure arrangement for a pressure vessel such as a Kier or autoclave of the kind described in Specifications 412,700 and 667,929 wherein a series of pivoted cover-securing latches disposed around the mouthpiece of the vessel are swung into and out of operative position by the partial rotation of an actuating ring 5 and wherein an interlock is provided to prevent the opening of the pressure fluid supply valve until the door is closed and the ring 5 fully turned to lock the latches has an additional safety device to prevent the turning of the ring and release of the interlock when the door is open so that mechanics can work inside the vessel without the risk of being harmed by the inadvertent admission of pressure fluid thereto. The device consists of a flat semi-circular plate 2 which is welded to the underside of the upper moving hinge boss 3 of the hinge arm 3b of the door. In moving the door to the open position the plate 2 turns with the boss 3 and positions itself above a projection 4 on the actuating ring 5 so that the latter cannot be turned to allow it to be possible to open the steam &c. supply valve to the vessel.
