Abstract
965,265. Covers for resisting fluid pressure. LEEDS & BRADFORD BOILER CO. Ltd. Sept. 29, 1961 [July 24, 1961], No. 26714/61. Heading F2P. The door or cover of a pressure vessel has around its periphery a series of pivoted latches 3 which on partial rotation of a ring-like actuating member 9 are swung into operative positions in which they engage in a channel 4 provided around the mouth of the vessel. The arrangement is generally similar to that described in Specification 412,700 except that the latches are mounted on the door instead of the vessel, and a simplified locking arrangement is used. This comprises a lever 12 mounted on the outer face of the door 1 which actuates the ring 9, an extension of the lever engaging in a slot of a lug or plate 13 fitted to the mouthpiece of the vessel, this ensuring that the latches are retained in an off position until the door or cover is fully closed. A self-sealing or pressurized joint ring 11 is provided between the ring 2 on the mouth of the door and the ring 5 around the mouth of the vessel.
