Abstract
721,176. Pressure-resisting lids. METALLWERK MESCHEDE GES. Aug. 1, 1952, [Dec. 21, 1951], No. 19466/52. Class 123 (1). A pressure cooker in which a lid 1 is turned relatively to the vessel 2 to open the cooker has a pressure release valve 3 in a handle of the lid 1, a movable valve member 4 of which co-operates with a pin 5 on a handle of the vessel 2 whereby, when the valve is closed, relative opening movement between lid 1 and vessel 2 is prevented. The valve 3 has a cut-away extension 4 which engages the pin 5 on the handle of the vessel 2. In the locked position of Fig. 1 the lid 1 cannot be turned relative to the vessel 2, and there is no escape to atmosphere from the interior of the vessel. On turning the element 3 through 90 degrees, a bore 7 in the valve member 4 coincides with an opening 6 in the vessel 2 to release the pressure therein, and the relative positions of the parts 4, 5 are such as to permit relative circumferential movement between the lid 1 and vessel 2.
