Abstract
667,929. Doors for resisting fluid pressure. PICKARD, H. M. H., and LEEDS & BRADFORD BOILER CO., Ltd. May 26, 1950, No. 13297/50. Class 123 (i). In the door for a kier, autoclave, &c., described in Specification 412,700, wherein a series of pivoted locking latches disposed around the mouth of the vessel are adapted to be swung into and out of operative position by a surrounding rotatable ring 23, the valve 10 controlling the supply of' pressure fluid to the kier is associated with the door so that it cannot be opened until said door is fully locked. The handle 12 of the valve 10 is normally locked by a cowling 13 which is rotatably supported by a bracket 14 on the vessel and is provided with a link 15 connected by a rod 17 to a rod piston 19. The latter is in engagement with a sleeve 20 on the vessel mouth but is prevented from sliding, to permit release of the cowling 13 and opening of the valve, until the ring 23 is in its locking position and an aperture 24 in an obstructing plate 22 on said ring is in alignment therewith. The valve may be three-way so that the vessel is open to atmosphere when not under pressure. A safety relief valve A with operating mechanism B may be fitted on the vessel.
