Abstract
1285949 Autoclave cover operating mechanism BIURO KOMPLETOWANIA ZAKLADOW DRZEWNEGO "BEKAZED" 17 Sept 1969 [3 Oct 1968] 45734/69 Heading E2M [Also in Division F2] A pressure-and-vacuum autoclave is closed by a cover 2 which is connected to the autoclave body 1 by a toothed connecting ring 3 and which is movable away from the body 1 on horizontal guideways 8 and vertical guideways 9. The cover 2 is supported on rollers 7 of a carriage 6 and is moved horizontally by actuators 5 and vertically by a chain and drum system 10, 12, 13. Actuators 4 rotate the connecting ring 3 so that its teeth are in or out of alignment with teeth on the cover 2 to close the autoclave or allow the cover 2 to be moved away from the body 1 respectively. A safety locking unit 14 comprises a locking pin 19 passing through the ring 3 and movable into a recess in the autoclave body 1 to prevent rotation of the ring with the cover 2 in the closed position, a valve (25) connecting the interior of the autoclave with the atmosphere and which is locked in the open position by a bar (20) during the opening and closing operations of the cover 2 and is closed, but not locked whilst the autoclave is in operation, and a valve (24) which is locked in the closed position during the opening and closing operations of the cover by a bar (21), and locked in the open position by means of the bar (20) to supply steam continuously to a sealing ring (22) located between the cover 2 and autoclave body 1 whilst the autoclave is in operation. The bar (21) locks the pin 19 in the recess whilst the autoclave is in operation.
