Abstract

1278715 Cell door operator SOUTHERN STEEL CO 20 July 1970 [29 Aug 1969] 35058/ 70 Headings E2A and E2M A motor-driven cell door operating device comprises a movable bar and bar operating means carried by a cell door carriage, which means moves the bar to fastening position when the cell door reaches the open or closed position and withdraws the bar when the door is either open or closed and driving force is applied to the carriage. Drive from motor 118 when the door is in the fastened open position, Fig. 12, causes rotation of pinion 116 counter clockwise which moves rack 88 and slide bar 90 to the right. Cam 114 engages cam follower roller 132 to initiate rotation of a pivotable bar operator 70 which raises bar 44 from its fastening position to its releasing position so that the cell door moves towards the closed position. The door is released from the closed position in a similar way. Fastening occurs by means of overtravel movement of rack 88 and bar 90 causing pivoting of lock bar operator 70 to an inclined position, lowering lock bar 44.
