Abstract

1431735 Cover for pressure vessel SPITZER SILOFAHRZEUGE KG 28 Feb 1974 9242/74 Heading F2P Closure means for an opening in a pressurized silo container has a cover 9 adapted to be sealingly mounted over the opening by means of a cover flange 10 and an elastic sealing ring 5 on the flange 2 of the opening, the cover being pivotally mounted on pin 13 having its axis normal to the plane of the flange of the opening and secured by this pivot against axial displacement, the cover being securable on the side opposite the pivot in the closed position by an abutment 18 mounted on the container and the sealing ring 5 being convex outwardly and being arched by the application thereto of a pressure medium so that it sealingly bridges the clearance between the two flanges. The sealing ring 5 can be fitted in a groove 4 which is connectable to a pressure medium supply. Opening and closing of the closure means can be manually operated or, as shown, operated by means of a piston/cylinder device 15 connected to an arm 13 connected to the cover. In this case opening and closing of the cover can be by remote control means and the opening and closing operations can be interlinked with the application and release of pressure medium to the sealing ring 5 such that the ring is only inflated when the cover is in its closing position and the cylinder 15 does not open the cover until the pressure in the sealing ring is relieved. The interlinking can also be such that the sealing ring 5 can not be deflated until the pressure in the container has dropped below a predetermined value. Such a control arrangement is illustrated in Fig. 3 (not shown).
