Abstract

803,360. Bitumen boilers. WILLIAMS & SONS (GLASGOW), Ltd., W. June 5, 1957 [June 21, 1956], No. 19234/56. Class 107 A bitumen boiler comprises a doublewalled insulated outer jacket and a separate inner container with a space below for heating means to which access is afforded by a hole in the jacket, and an insulated top cover. The heating means may be a gas burner 34 fed from a pressure container 40. The inner container (see Fig. 2) has handles 17 for easy removal and has a flange 16 resting on a collar 5 secured to the jacket. A draw-off spout 24 is controlled by a sleeve valve 20 A sliding door 10 covers the access hole 8 when the burner is not in use. A vent opening 11 is also provided and has a closure 12. The sleeve valve may be replaced by a cock with a stem elongated to project above the lid.
