805,013. Vapour burners. BURDEN, J. L., and CROSS, D. A. Feb. 11, 1957 [April 3, 1956], No. 10071/56. Class 75(1) In an oil burning heating device comprising an oil container 1 in which the oil is gasified and a chimney 8, 9 in which the gasified oil burns, an oil burning auxiliary unit 13 is located in a portion 9 of the chimney extending down into the oil container to gasify the oil at starting. The auxiliary unit comprises an abertured tray having its bottom covered with asbestos and adapted to rest on ledges 14 in the chimney. The oil container is of frusto-conical shape and has a cover 2 detachably secured thereto by a split U-shaped ring 5 embracing flanges 3, 4 on the cover and container. The cover 2 has pressure releasing holes 16 having covers 17 arranged at a distance thereabove. The chimney 8, 9 consists of an upper part 8 and a lower part 9 both of square section and both formed by LShaped sections connected together at opposite corners by sliding joints. The upper edge of the lower part 9 has a hook shaped rim 11 engaging over the edges of an upward flange 10 on the edges of a square hole 7 in the cover. The lower edge of the upper part 8 engages over the hook shaped rim 11. A hole 12 is provided in each wall of the lower part 9 of the chimney above the level of the oil and holes 15 are provided in the upper part of the chimney.
