Abstract

825,554. Valves. VOLPIN, A. S. March 13, 1956, No. 7844/56. Class 135. The valve body 10, Fig. 1, has three ports two of which are axially aligned and are controlled by independently operable gate closure members of the type disclosed in Specification 786,378. Each of the axially aligned ports 35 is located in a bush 26 set in a bore 25 in a sleeve 18 secured in a bore 17 of the body 10 by a set screw 22. A sealing ring 24 surrounds the sleeve 18. A conduit 21 is screwed into the sleeve 18 in alignment with the port 35. The bore 25 is enlarged to provide an annular lubricant reservoir 29 which surrounds the bush 26 and contains a ring piston 30. As described in the above Specification lubricant is expelled from the reservoir 29 into a groove in the valve seat to form a lubricant seal between the seat and the closed gate member. Each gate member is mounted on a spindle 38 which extends through a bore 37 in the body 10 and is surrounded by a packing 40 compressed by a gland nut 41. An operating handle 70 is secured to the stem 38 and has a finger 72 which extends between two stops on top of the body 10 to define the travel of the gate valve. A spring 62a urges the closure member against the seat 27.
