Abstract

822,246. Travelling pulley blocks. NATIONAL SUPPLY CO., and OIL WELL ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. June 28, 1957 [Feb. 5, 1957], No. 20452/57. Class 78 (5). Travelling pulley block 10 carries spring hook 20 by means of universal joint 100. Thus, block 10 carries member 22 by means of trunnions 23 (not shown), the member 22 carrying skirt 38 by means of pivot pin 25 to complete the universal joint. Skirt 38 carries housing 36 resiliently by means of springs 33, 34 which, at one end, engage shoulder 35 of the housing and, at the other end, engage assembly 32 supported by nut 31 fast with shank 26 fast with said skirt 38. In turn, housing 36 carries hook 20, the latter being threaded on to the housing at 40 and locked thereto manually by the engagement of spring-loaded pawl 65 with the ring 42 connected by pin and vertical groove to shank 26. The hook carries tongue 49, the tongue being pivoted thereto at 50 and secured in closed position by manually-operated latch 56. Specification 740,750, [Group XXV], is referred to.
