Abstract
An alloy steel having good corrosion resistance and good physical properties at room temperature and at high temperatures has a composition within the following range in per cent by weight:- .Cr.12.0-18.0 .Ni.2.25- 5.0 .Cu.2.25- 5.0 .Mo.1.0- 3.5 .B.0- 0.005 .V.0- 1.0 .W.0- 3.0 .Nb.0 up to 9 times the C content and not over 0.8 .Ti.0 up to 5 times the C content and not over 0.5 .Mn.0 up to 2.5 (1.0-2.5 if Ni is below 3.0) .N.0 up to 0.14 (0.06-0.14 if Mn is 1.0-2.5) .C.0- 0.1 .Si.0- 1.0 .S.0- 0.05 .P.0- 0.05 .Fe the remainder.. The alloy can be solution treated in the range 1700-2000 DEG F., quenched and precipitation hardened in the range 800-1200 DEG F. Specification 620,174 is referred to.
