Class 120(2) In a winding machine of the type in which a cone is wound by surface contact with a length of roll shaft the cone also moving parallel to the axis of the shaft, each roll shaft is formed with a series of spaced cone-driving collars provided by turning the shaft down to a reduced diameter 151 at intervals along its length. As shown, a cone 16 is driven by a shaft 15, which also drives the traverse drum, having driving collars 1, 2, 3, 4 the peripheral edges of which are chamfered at 153.
