Abstract
336,686. Blundell, H. A., and Blundell Bros. (Luton), Ltd- July 23, 1929. Jigger machines. - In a dyeing machine particularly for dyeing ribbon &c. 7, with a draw roller 2, on which a single length of material is wound in a series of customary layered piles 8, means are provided for giving the roller intermittent axial motion relative to the bath 1 so that each consecutive pile may be brought to the feeding point and the material continuously taken through the bath, the receiving roller being provided with similar means for taking up the material at the drawoff point. The bath is preferably provided with guide-pegs on a rack 5, the material being guided by rollers 3 and pegs 4 to traverse the bath in zigzag fashion. Braking means 6 may be provided so that a lag is provided on reversal. As modifications, only one long roller 2 may be used, the material passing into and out of the bath at the same end but on the opposite side; two rollers may be used, loosely mounted on the same shaft and adapted to be rotated in opposite directions; or the axial movement of the rollers may be prevented, the bath being moved intermittently in an axial direction relatively thereto.
