818,832. Pipe joints. COMPAGNIE DE PONT-A-MOUSSON. Aug. 26, 1957 [Aug. 30, 1956; July 19, 1957], No. 26848/57. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXVI] In a pipe joint of the bell and spigot type having an elastic washer 6 compressed between the bell 2 and spigot 1, the end of the spigot 1 is fitted with an insulating washer 10, having an annular lip 11 gripping the outer cylindrical face of the spigot, which provides electrical insulation between the pipes. The washer 6 is compressed by a clamping ring 7 secured by bolts 8 and the washer 10, which may be of rubber or a thermoplastic material such as polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene, may be provided with a second annular lip 13a, Fig. 2, and may be reinforced by a metal ring 14. The lip 11 may be initially conical.
