A reinforced pipe of synthetic plastic, e.g. polyethylene has metal rings 2 having an inside diameter substantially equal to the outside diameter of the pipe 1 placed therearound at regular intervals, the rings being covered by a protective sheath welded or fused to the surface of the pipe and made of the same composition as the latter.
