938,347. Pipe joints. STEWARTS & LLOYDS Ltd. May 9, 1962 [May 12, 1961], No. 17372/61. Class 99(1). A pipe coupling comprises two pipes 10 joined by welding, each pipe having a plastic lining 11. A sleeve 14 of a synthetic resin or other heat sensitive material has a portion intermediate its ends produced in diameter by cold working. The ends 15 of the sleeve 14 are affixed to the interior of the pipes 10 by an adhesive the pipes being then welded over a steel heating ring 13. The reduced portion of the sleeve 14 regains its original diameter by either heat obtained in the welding process or from some other source.
