[Also in Groups XXV and XXVI] Ribbed reinforcing beads 3, 4 sealingly secured to the ends of pipes 1, 2 cooperate with the ribs 12, 13 of a resilient muff 10 externally clasped by a clamping collar 16 having inwardly disposed flanges 17. The collar presses together the ribs of the beads and the muff, and the flanges overlap the ends of the beads remote from the ends of the pipes to prevent relative movement of the pipes away from one another or angular movement of the pipes relative to one another beyond a predetermined limit. As shown, the ribs of the muff seat in the channels 7 of the beads and the central portion 19 of the collar supports the web 11 of the muff.
