Abstract

834,853. Pipe joints. ZEISS-STIFTUNG, C., [trading as JENAER GLASWERK SCHOTT & GEN.]. Nov. 13, 1957 [Nov. 16, 1956], No. 35429/57. Class 99(1). [Also in Group XXV] Tubes 1, 2 made from acid resistant materials such as glass and ceramics are joined by band like clips 9 placed around the tube ends and secured by screws 10, the connections being secured by tightening nuts on screws 12 which pass through apertured lugs 11 arranged on the circumference of the clips 9. Preferably the tubes are provided with beads 13 against which the clips bear over synthetic plastic layers 14. The ends of the tubes are inserted in the collars of a packing ring 17 of acid-resistant material which may have a soft rubber filling, Fig. 4 (not shown). The clips may be vulcanised with a soft rubber layer to resist corrosion and the screws 10, 12 are preferably spring loaded.
