A sleeve g of resilient material, e.g. rubber, which overlaps the ends of pipes a. b has internal annular beads h provided with tapered lips i seating, under the pressure of air conveyed by the pipes, on the external surfaces of the pipes and behind the pipe flanges c, d. The lips may have annular recesses l, and the air pressure may be applied to the lips from chambers k between the flanges and beads. A cover m of textile fabric may reinforce the sleeve, and a ring e having a circumferential bulge f may extend into the pipes.
