Abstract

681,662. Pipe couplings. HALSTEAD, B. Feb. 26, 1951. No. 4681/51. Class 99 (i). A cylindrical rubber muff 1 fitting over the adjacent ends of pipes 4, 5 e.g. asbestos cement pipes, has external outwardly-tapering surfaces 6 and an internal annular projection 10 against which the pipes abut, and is pressed onto the outer surfaces of the pipes by flanges 11, 12 drawn together by bolts 16. The flanges may have tapered bores to correspond with the tapers of the muff. An annular chamber 19 may be formed by the flanges to accommodate a squeezedup ring 20 of the muff.
