Abstract

796,065. Pipe joints. STEWARTS & LLOYDS, Ltd. June 4, 1956 [Aug. 23, 1955], No. 24208/55. Class 99(1). Two flanged pipes a of metal or synthetic plastic are joined by a sleeve d, Fig. 1, made of polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene or similar material having the properties of stretching and, after application of heat, contracting to its previous condition. The sleeve d is stretched over the flanges b of the pipes a, and after heating to a temperature between 100‹C. and 120‹C. the sleeve contracts as in Fig. 2, fits tightly about the pipes and flanges, and compresses rubber &c. rings c.
