Abstract

789,521. Hose pipes: pipe joints. SCHAUENBURG, H. G. Dec. 30, 1955 [Dec. 30, 1954], No. 37376/65. Classes 99(1) and 99(2). A hose is formed of a helically wound strip, or of adjacent rings 9, of rubber or synthetic plastic material such as polyvinyl chloride, the strip or each ring having at one edge of its outer surface an integrally formed male beading 11 extending continuously and without interruption throughout the length of said edge, and at the other edge of the outer surface an integrally formed, correspondingly-shaped female beading 10 also extending continuously and without interruption, adjoining convolutions of the strip or adjoining rings being joined together by engagement of the beadings. The contacting surfaces may be stuck or welded together. Heat may be applied to soften the material and permit engagement of the beadings, and the material of the hose may be sufficiently flexible to allow the hose to collapse longitudinally.
