Abstract

A bearing lining comprises a perforated metal sheet or wire cloth having a hardened bearing surface and a relatively soft backing surface, the surface hardening having been effected by powder spraying and fusing an alloy such as a nickel base high boron alloy. The soft side of the lining may be secured to a backing member, which may be rubber, leather, zinc, brass or aluminium, by such means as soldering, brazing, welding or by epoxy resin or other adhesive. In one embodiment, a wire cloth of nickel-chromium alloy wire is coated with nickel-chromium-boron alloy. In another embodiment, a perforated alloy steel strip is surface hardened by powder spraying and fusing a cobalt - nickel - iron - chromium - molybdenum alloy.
