Abstract

398,073. Grinding-tools. HOPF, P., 21d, Steglitzerstrasse, Lichterfelde, Berlin. Dec. 19, 1932, No. 35952. [Class 60.] A grinding disc or strip comprises a support of iron or steel coated, galvanically, by dipping, soldering, or spraying, with a soft metal, for example, lead or zinc, in which granules of abrasive, for example, diamond, silicon carbide, &c., are pressed or hammered. A coating of hard metal, capable of resisting acids and alkalis, for example, nickel, chromium, platinum, or an alloy thereof, is then applied galvanically or by spraying, in order to secure the abrasive to the support and to protect the soft metal.
