Abstract
A bearing brass or brush comprises a steel backing with bonded thereto a thin bearing layer with a dendritic structure of copper having the intervening areas filled with binary silver-copper and ternary silver-copper-lead eutectics. The composition of the layer is silver 5-20 per cent, lead 30-40 per cent, and balance copper. A small amount of iron up to 0.5 per cent may be taken up from the backing during the process of applying the layer in molten metal form. U.S.A. Specification 2,092,284 is referred to.
