Abstract

A multi-layer strip for making bearings comprises a steel supporting layer, an intermediate layer of softer metal bonded thereto and a surface layer comprising an alloy of lead and indium cast on the intermediate layer. Suitable alloys contain 1 to 10 per cent of indium, 0 to 1.5 of tin, and 0 to 2 of copper, the remainder being lead.
