Abstract
814,262. Bearing linings. BORG-WARNER CORPORATION. June 14, 1956 [June 27, 1955], No. 18397/56. Class 12 (1). [Also in Group XXII] A bearing comprises an aluminium or aluminium alloy backing 10, e.g. of an alloy of 2.5 per cent copper, 0.5 per cent magnesium, 0.5 per cent manganese and balance aluminium, with layers of copper 12, nickel 13, tin 14, copper-lead alloy 11, e.g. 80 per cent copper, 20 per cent lead and finally a cast Babbitt's metal layer 15. An aluminium or aluminium alloy pump bushing has similar layers applied to its end face and possibly also to its inner or outer surface. The Babbitt's metal is defined as a lead or tin base alloy containing antimony and possibly copper, cadmium, arsenic or silver. Specification 809,470 is referred to.
