Abstract

813,357. Knitting. ANDERSON, B. L., ANDERSON, K. L., and LIE, B. Dec. 11, 1956 [Jan. 18, 1956], No. 37801/56. Class 74 (2). In a two-bed machine in which one bed is disposed at an angle to the other, one yarn 7 is fed to the needles of both beds and another 5 is fed to the needles of only one bed. The loops of the one yarn 7 extending between the needles of both beds are subsequently cut by a cutter 10 so as to form a cut pile fabric. The cutter may be of circular configuration which merely engages the loops to sever them or may co-operate with a finger which extends behind the loops or through the loops to facilitate the cutting of them. Alternatively the finger may serve as the cutter. A slot may be provided in one of the beds which co-operates with the circular cutter to assist in the severing of the loops. The machine may be a cylinder-and-dial machine.
