Abstract

874,799. Knitting. URLAUB, G. A. Feb. 10, 1958, No. 4325/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 74 (2). An interlock fabric is knitted on a circular machine in which spaced needles in one bed have a cutting edge in the hook and on the latch so as to sever the corresponding loops on one face of the fabric to produce visible lines of weakness. The associated needles of the other bed are rendered inoperative so that the yarn on the other face of the fabric floats across these wales. Strips of material suitable for bandages may subsequently be provided by cutting along the float wales. Other means of providing weakening lines along wales may be employed such as using special cutting sinkers, or reinforcing except in spaced wales. The fabric also may be produced on flat, straight bar and warp machines.
