Abstract

812,749. Vehicle lamps. CHENG, W. G. April 12, 1957 [Jan. 17, 1957], No. 1784/57. Classes 39(2); 75(3) and 75(4) An electric lamp for cycles or other vehicles is mounted on a casing containing a battery for the lamp, an electric horn being also mounted on the casing and supplied by the same or a separate battery within the casing. The casing 1 is of sheet metal with a non-conducting lining. The lamp 7 is carried by trunnions 10 on the casing and comprises a cup shaped body 9 closed at the front by a cover glass 22 and containing parabolic reflector 18 and an insulating plug 23 for the bulb 12, contact being via annular flange 16 on the reflector and a spring contact member 24 in the plug 23 connected to a lead 25. A plate of insulating material having metallic contact members projecting from each corner and a metallic bridge piece 40 serving to divide the casing into two compartments is mounted on the inside of the front of the casing. A battery 42 rests with the positive terminal on the bridge piece 40 and the base contacting one of the upper contact member. A second battery is mounted alongside this with its base on the bridge piece and the positive terminal engaging the second upper contact member which is connected to the lead 25. A sliding switch member 43 serves to complete the lamp circuit. The horn 8 is mounted on the casing with one terminal connected thereto. A separate battery 29 is mounted below the bridge piece and between the lower contact members one of which is connected to the casing and the other to the lead 32 from a push button switch 33, the return lead from which is connected to the other terminal of the horn. A switch 33 is mounted in any convenient position e.g. on the handlebars of a bicycle.
