Abstract
807,971. Thermionic valves. M-O VALVE CO. Ltd., and WIDDOWSON, A. E. July 18, 1957 [July 18, 1956], No. 22310/56. Class 39(1). The glass base 3 of a thermionic valve is sealed to a tubular glass portion of the envelope 2 before the electrode system 7 is mounted in position. The electrode system is then drawn into the tubular portion of the envelope by pulling on the lead-in wires 6 which are attached to the electrode system and pass through narrow metal tubes 4 sealed in the glass base. The wires 6 may be fed into the tubes 4 by using a guide plate which has holes flared in one direction to fit over the tubes and flared in the opposite direction, but to a smaller extent, to receive the ends of the wires. The wires 6 and tubes 4 may be of copper-clad nickel-iron alloy. The electrode system shown is a triode system.
