Abstract
807,972. Cathode-ray tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., and WIDDOWSON, A. E. July 18, 1957 [July 18, 1956], No. 22312/56. Class 39(1). The glass base 6 of a cathoderay tube is sealed to the glass neck 5 before the electrode system 1 is mounted in position. The electrode system is then drawn into the neck by pulling on the lead-in wires 19 which are attached to the electrode system and pass through narrow metal tubes 8 sealed in the glass base. The wires 19 may be fed into the tubes 8 by using a guide plate which has holes flared in one direction to fit over the tubes and flared in the opposite direction, but to a smaller extent, to receive the ends of the wires. The wires 19 and tubes 8 may be of copper-clad nickel-iron alloy.
