Abstract

806,925. Air filters. KNECHT, A. Jan. 12, 1956 [Aug. 18, 1955], No. 1082/56. Class 8(2). [Also in Group XXVII] In a combined silencer and inward flow air filter suitable for connection to the carburettor of an I.C. engine and comprising a generally cylindrical porous paper sleeve 2 having axially and radially extending pleats the ends of which are sealed by plates 3, 4 one of said plates is of metal and also serves as the lid of a casing having a perforated cylindrical wall 9. Filtered air is discharged through a pipe 16 extending through the centre of plate 4 and through a plate 12 to the silencing chamber 14 and thence through an offset outlet elbow 18. The chamber 14 is connected by a pipe 21 containing oil absorbing material 22 to the engine crankcase.
