Abstract

802,450. Valves. ANREP, R. June 4, 1956 [June 8, 1955], No. 17146/56. Class 135. A pinch cock comprises a cam 1a, Fig. 2, carried by a member 1 which is mounted on a member 1 which is mounted on a pivot 2 and urged by elastic means, as shown, a spring 8, into one position and held in an alternative, set position in which the spring is stretched by mechanism consisting of a spring-loaded pawl 11 pivoted at 12 and coacting with a catch 10 on the member 1, the arrangement being such that the member 1 does not pass through a dead-centre position relative to the spring 8 in the course of its operation. The cam 1a, which may be arranged to open or to close the cock when the catch 10 is released, engages a flexible pipe 3 through an elastic blade 7 pivoted at 7a. The opposite side of the pipe is supported by a plate 4 pivoted at 4a and adjustable by a screw 5 to determine the extent to which the pipe is closed by the cam. The pawl 11 is operated to release the catch 10 by an electromagnet 15 which may be controlled by float, clockwork photo-electric means &c. A plurality of cocks may be arranged with a common shaft 2, Fig. 5, for the operating members and a rod 17 connected to a lever 18 for simultaneously resetting all the cocks. A pipe 3d may be opened and closed under electromagnetic control by the provision of two cam devices acting in opposite senses.
